Michael Struble

Secretary to the Superintendent

Cathy Davis - Cathy came to the district from the Maumee Valley Planning Organization and the Defiance County Economic Development Office where she was Administrative Assistant working with state and federal grants for a five county area and Enterprise Zone Agreements for Defiance and Paulding Counties. She has served as Secretary to the Superintendent since June 1991. Other duties for the district are: AESOP Administrator, Instant Alert, BCI/FBI background checks, teaching/ paraprofessional licensure, open enrollment, and is the program coordinator of the School Based Mentoring Program.

EMIS Coordinator

Ruth Niese - Ruth began her duties as EMIS Coordinator with the district in February 2004. Before coming to Defiance, she was a paraprofessional with the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center (NWOESC) and also had been the assistant treasurer for Holgate Local Schools. She assists with the highly qualified teachers data collection as well.

Introduction to your Superintendent

Mr. Struble graduated from Defiance High School in 1969. He completed his undergraduate work at Miami University, earning his BS in 1973. In 1979 he earned his Masters of Education from Ohio University.

His 9 year teaching career in high school English included Mason City Schools, Westland High School, Delphos Jefferson High School, and Northwestern High School in Springfield, Ohio, where he also served as athlete director.

His administrative career began as assistant high school principal and athletic director at Warren Local Schools in Washington County. He was employed as the high school principal for Edon Northwest Local Schools in 1983, and in 1996 he was named superintendent of Edon Northwest Local School District.

Mr. Struble was named superintendent of Defiance City Schools in July 2006.
