BOWLING GREEN -- The Defiance boys golf team finished 14th in Division I sectional action at Stone Ridge Golf Club.

Toledo St. John's (305) won the sectional title to advance to districts at Red Hawk on Thursday, Oct. 10. Joining them will be Sylvania Northview (325), Findlay (325), Anthony Wayne (326) and Toledo Central Catholic (336).

D.J. Gustwiller fired an 85 to lead the Bulldogs.

"D.J., our four man, played great today," said Defiance coach Steve Maxey. "It got windier on the back nine and overall the team scores were not as good this year. We finished better than last year at sectionals and since our top six guys are underclassmen, we have a lot to look forward to."

Kaleb Kuhn of Celina (76), Mitch Kontak of Maumee (76), Mason Berry of Norwalk (78), Alert Bauman of Fremont Ross (80) and Kevin Metzger of Toledo St. Francis (81) qualified as individuals.
