History of Defiance High School
The construction of Defiance High School began in 1969 due to the increase of student population in the 1960's.  The High School was dedicated on January 25, 1970.  The roadway in front of the school was named in honor of former superintendent Harold Palmer.  Even after three decades, many of the town folks still refer to the facility as the "new" high school.

In 1973 the Fred J. Brown stadium was erected as a three phase project costing $617,288.  The stadium was named after the local baker who donated $150,000 toward the construction cost.  The district joined the Western Buckeye League in 1973.

Today the high school serves students in grades 9-12 with a student population of 812.
