ACT Information
Dear Parent/Guardian of a Defiance High School Junior,
Ohio’s Department of Education and Workforce supports college and career readiness for
planning students’ futures. Testing is one way they gauge student preparedness. So, the state
provides for juniors to take the ACT test — at Defiance HS — on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
Also if students would like to leave early they will need to go to the office and get a permission slip
that needs to be signed by their parents and turned into the office before then.
At the bottom of the page a picture of the seating arrangement that is in alphabetical order by the students last name.
The rest of this letter will refer to this test as the “state ACT.” For the state ACT:
o Your child may receive only one free state ACT attempt. This is set for February 24, 2026.
o Students do not have to register for this state ACT. Our school registers them.
o Your child can use this state ACT for admission to colleges and universities.
o ACT will mail your child’s score report to your home three to eight weeks after testing.
o Defiance juniors take the state ACT at Defiance, including our Four County students.
o Achieving college ready scores in English, math, and reading is one pathway your child can
meet a portion of the testing requirements for graduation, so s/he should try her/his best.
o If your child wishes to take additional ACT tests, s/he must register for and pay to take a
national test on a Saturday (information on how to register can be found at www.act.org). For
students considering college, we recommend taking the ACT at least a second time.
Your child’s score report can help determine his/her academic readiness for college or other
training after high school. Also, the score report can provide career guidance based on responses to
the student profile section and interest inventory questions. Anyone looking for free practice
