Want an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. and Gettysburg? An hour-long test and essay-writing competition could help you win! On the morning of October 28, we plan to give the American Legion's Americanism and Government Test here at Defiance HS. It's open to anyone in 10th, 11th, or 12th grades. It involves a 50-question test with a combination of M/C, T/F, and fill-in-the-blank. Additionally, a 300-word essay is required from each test-taker as a tie-breaker.

They initially determine 84 district winners. Then, they use scores and essays to narrow down to 3 male/3 female winners per grade -- 10, 11, and 12. Those 18 students get a 5-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Gettysburg and DC.
