Early Assurance Program

The Early Assurance Program (EAP) at OU-HCOM offers high school seniors the chance to earn a guaranteed seat in medical school before they even begin college. This pathway is designed for students who demonstrate strong academic ability, leadership, and a clear passion for serving others through medicine.

Students accepted into the EAP will:

  • Receive conditional admission to OU-HCOM upon completing their undergraduate degree at one of our partner institutions.

  • Benefit from early mentorship and support throughout their undergraduate years.

  • Join a community of future physicians focused on primary care and serving underserved populations.

Students can be accepted into the EAP program if they are planning to attend any of the following institutions:

  • Baldwin Wallace University

  • Cleveland State University

  • John Carroll University

  • Ohio Dominican University

  • Ohio University

  • Otterbein University

  • Shawnee State University

This is a highly competitive and rewarding opportunity for students who are ready to commit to the path of becoming a physician. To be eligible to apply, seniors must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. They can by December 15, 2026.

We will be holding a Virtual Early Assurance Webinar on Monday, October 12, from 3:30 pm until 4:30 pm. Students, parents, and school counselors are welcome to learn more and apply here. This webinar will help answer many of the frequently asked questions we receive about the program.
