May Election: As you may have heard, Defiance City Schools will be placing a Bond Issue on the ballot in May. The district is on track to receive $44,069,423 in state funding for this project, a 6-12 facility. The local taxpayer share is only 21%, or roughly $12M ($11,714,657) of the entire project with roughly $4.3M in Locally Funded Initiatives. Compare that to the nearly $12M in renovations necessary to upgrade the current Middle School and High School buildings. The new facility will allow our students opportunities to become college and career ready in a state of the art building with up-to-date science and computer labs. The funding will also ensure that critical safety upgrades are in place for the security of all students and staff. If you have any questions regarding this bond issue that will be on the ballot May 6, 2014, please contact Superintendent Michael Struble at 419.728.0070.
