It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Please keep in mind that our winter weather has arrived.  Most of our children go outside for recess at least twice a day and need to be properly clothed.  A coat is necessary every day.  In the event of snow, all-weather boots are required to play in the wet snow.  Children without snow boots will remain on the blacktop areas.  Please note, if the wind chill is above 20, we have outside recess.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Upcoming Spirit Days:

Monday, December 16 - Family Photo Day (Wear your favorite flannel.)

Tuesday, December 17 - Grinch Green or Rudolph Red Day (Wear all of the green and red you have!)

Wednesday, December 18 - Walking in a Winter Wonderland (Wear your favorite winter scarf, hat, mittens.)

Thursday, December 19 - Santa and His Helpers  (Dress like your favorite Christmas character.)

Friday, December 20 - Twas the Night Before Christmas (Wear your favorite PJs.)

Enjoy this holiday season with your family!

Mentoring Opportunities at DES!

If you would like to spend some quality time with one of our KinderStart-Fifth grade students, we have several mentoring opportunities available to you throughout the school year.   Click on the link below to get started.  We will need you to complete the application and return it to our Defiance County Mentoring Supervisor.  They will process your application, do a quick background check, offer training and you're all set!  We ask that you visit with your assigned student at least once a month, but encourage once a week (avg. time is 30 minutes).  This is a great opportunity to give back to your community and build the self-esteem of a child at the same time!  Win-Win!

Hours of Operation and Book Fees

The Defiance Elementary School day runs from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  Our doors unlock at 8:30 a.m. for arrival.

On scheduled two-hour delay days, our doors open at 10:30 a.m. for arrival.

Book fees for elementary students are $52.00.
