Archbold tops DHS: The Defiance girls tennis team lost to Archbold, 4-1.
Colleen Johns defeated Erin Nafziger 6-7, 6-2, 7-6 at first singles to earn the lone winner for the Lady Bulldogs.
"The highlight of the day was at first singles," DHS coach Amy
McDonald said. "Colleen Johns and Erin Nafziger played great tennis for
all three hours and 35 minutes they played. In the last set in the
tiebreaker, Nafziger made a run to the net to attack, Johns responded
with a down the center baseline lob to which Nafziger sprinted to smack
the lob over her head with her back still to the net to continue the
point. That led to a smash from Johns. It truly was great tennis."
