In 2016, the Defiance City Schools Board of Education convened a diverse group of community members and school district staff and administrators to consider and plan for the continued progress and future of the district. Work sessions of the plan's core team, taking place over several months, resulted in a comprehensive strategic plan including a vision statement; mission statement; set of six core values; and five over-arching district goals. At the end of the core team's time together, action teams – one for each of the goal areas – began work on specific objectives, strategies and programs.
